Recruiting Panel Reviewers!

March 21, 2023

The PMCS/Lux Team will serve as the support contractor for this competition and will be your primary contact for logistics related to the panel review process. If you have already previously indicated to be interested and available to the PMCS/Lux Team, please disregard this email.

The ANA peer review process is designed to ensure fair and objective technical reviews of eligible grant applications for funding by assembling panels of subject matter experts to objectively analyze, score, and comment on ANA grant applications. The descriptions for the roles of a Reviewer and a Chairperson are attached for your reference. Each peer reviewer and chairperson will be required to evaluate between five (5) to ten (10) applications.

Serving on a review panel can be professionally rewarding but also requires an intensive time commitment. Each panel will convene remotely via Zoom video conferencing several times between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm (local) and often during business hours over the course of 12 days, including a weekend. Weekend availability will be required. Panel Members must be accessible via email and by phone to their fellow panelists and to the ANA staff for the entirety of the peer review period. Panel members should have a dedicated phone (landline or mobile) with unlimited calls/minutes/data. Successful reviewers in the past have taken time off from work or arranged their schedules accordingly to prioritize panel review requirements. This is also done in consideration of the time commitment of fellow panelists.

If you would like to be considered, please complete the following steps:

1) Respond with your availability by March 27, 2023 by completing the Interest and Availability Questionnaire in this link

2) Register in the Reviewer Recruitment Module (RRM). If you have already an active account in RRM, please email the PMCS/Lux Team at anasupport@pmcsllc.com.

3) Complete ANA’s online training modules for Reviewers and Chairpersons (see job description and instructions in attachments section below). The online training modules will be available 24/7 between Monday, March 6, 2023, through Saturday April 8th, 2023 at 11:59 pm AKT.

Successful completion of this training is a requirement in order

to be assigned to a panel review session

Reviewer Training Modules: If you are interested in serving on the panel in the role of “Reviewer”, you will be required to successfully complete training modules 1 through 3 in the Panel Review 2023 – Reviewer Training.

Chairperson Training Modules: If you are interested in serving on the panel in the role of “Chairperson” or if you do not have a preference in serving as a reviewer or chairperson, please complete training modules 1 through 5 in the Panel Review 2023 – Chairperson Training. The Chairperson Training has two additional training modules, 4 and 5, which are Chairperson specific and outline the Chairperson’s roles and responsibilities.

Please keep the following in mind when taking the online training:

  • You must sequentially complete each module
  • Your training scores will be provided to ANA and utilized as part of the selection process
  • The online training is successfully completed when all exercises in the modules have been completed
  • Instructions on how to access the online training are attached to this email

First-time Trainees: If you have never taken the training, please follow the instructions on how to create an account as noted in the user instructions attached.

Returning Trainees: If you took the training last year, you may sign in with your username and password. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset the password at the login page.

Conflict of Interest: Please be aware that participation in the peer review process will require panelists to determine if they have a conflict of interest, or the appearance of a conflict, in reviewing assigned grant applications. A peer reviewer or chairperson is considered to have a conflict of interest when the reviewer, or certain individuals and entities with which the reviewer has a relationship, has a financial or non-financial interest in the outcome of the competition for the panel on which they are serving.

Honorarium: In appreciation for time and effort, reviewers will receive an honorarium after successfully completing the peer review process, including the successful submission of all required honorarium forms. Peer reviewers will receive an honorarium of $300 per completed review of each application. Chairpersons will receive $400 per completed panel summary report for each application. All panelists will receive a $100 stipend to cover printing, data usage, or miscellaneous expenses. Full participation consists of a thorough analysis, productive panel discussions, adequately addressing requested changes and corrections, and final clearance of the panel summary report by ANA Staff.

ANA will notify you via email if you are selected as a peer reviewer, an alternate reviewer, or chairperson for Session One no later than close of business, April 14, 2023, and for Session Two, no later than close of business, June 2, 2023.

If you have any questions regarding ANA’s panel reviews, please do not hesitate to contact the ANA Grant Review Team via email at ANASupport@pmcsllc.com.

Please let us know if you prefer not to receive additional emails about participation in the ANA Panel Review

Sincerely,

The PMCS/Lux Team
